Kevin Elliot McCort Obituary, Death – A Florida man, Kevin Elliot McCort, 61, from Ocala, was fatally struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Interstate 95 in Rhode Island early Wednesday morning. Rhode Island State Police reported the accident occurred around 5:40 a.m. near the Eddy/Barton Street exit. McCort had parked on the southbound side, exited his vehicle, and crossed the southbound lanes before trying to cross the northbound side.
There, he was struck by a Volkswagen SUV traveling in the high-speed lane. The collision led to a temporary closure of northbound lanes for about an hour. The incident remains under investigation, though no charges are pending against the SUV driver. Responders included the state police, Providence police, and Providence Fire and Rescue.
