Kevin Dos Santos Lopes, Amilton De Pina Semedo Obituary, Death – Two teenagers who died in a tragic car crash in Dartmouth over the weekend have been officially identified. Authorities say the victims were 19-year-old Kevin Dos Santos Lopes from New Bedford and 18-year-old Amilton De Pina Semedo from Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
The fatal accident occurred on Saturday, around 1:35 p.m., when emergency services began receiving several 911 calls about a serious crash on Interstate 195. The location of the crash was near mile marker 19.4, close to the Reed Road exit in Dartmouth.
When first responders arrived on the scene, they found that a 2006 gray Chevy Equinox had been involved in a single-vehicle crash. Investigators believe that no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The SUV appeared to have suffered extreme damage, and the force of the impact had even dislodged the vehicle’s engine from the frame. Both teens had been ejected from the vehicle during the crash, which typically indicates that they may not have been wearing seat belts at the time.
Emergency medical personnel transported both individuals to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, Lopes and Semedo were pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
