Kevin Columb Lynch Obituary, Death – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is currently investigating a fatal crash involving a Tesla that erupted into flames early Monday morning in Monterey County. According to officials, the incident occurred at approximately 1:41 a.m. A white Tesla was heading southbound on River Road, just north of Chualar River Road, when the driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons that are still unclear. The car left the roadway and slammed into a tree, after which it caught fire.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene shortly after the crash, but the driver was pronounced dead at the site. The CHP reported that they are still working to determine the cause of the crash. It remains unknown whether alcohol played a role or if the Tesla was operating in full self-driving mode at the time of the incident.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office later identified the deceased driver as 63-year-old Kevin Columb Lynch of Oxnard, California.
As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and authorities are awaiting further information to clarify the circumstances that led to the crash.
