Keith Klatt, Joellen Klatt Obituary, Death – A Central Ohio family faced devastating loss just before the start of the new year when a tragic crash claimed the lives of a husband and wife in southwest Columbus near the Galloway area.
The incident unfolded late on New Year’s Eve when 56-year-old Keith Klatt and his 53-year-old wife, Joellen Klatt, were involved in a minor, non-injury car accident at the intersection of Norton Road and Alkire Road. The couple exited their vehicle to exchange information with the other driver.
While they were outside their car, a pickup truck entered the intersection and struck both victims. Emergency responders pronounced Keith Klatt dead at the scene. Joellen Klatt was rushed to Doctors Hospital by medics, but tragically, she succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities revealed that the pickup truck driver initially attempted to flee the scene on foot after the crash but was apprehended by police officers. Early reports indicated that the driver might have been operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs (OVI). However, in a subsequent update, police did not confirm whether charges had been filed or an arrest had been made.
