Kayden Haywood, Jashaun Cheatom Obituary, Death – Two teenagers lost their lives in separate shootings in Oklahoma City on Sunday, leaving two school communities in mourning. Authorities are still searching for suspects in both cases, and police are urging the public to come forward with any information.

The first victim, 16-year-old Kayden Haywood, was a student at Douglass High School. He was shot early Sunday morning near Northwest 122nd Street and Rockwell Avenue. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, but he did not survive.

Later that night, another shooting occurred at an apartment complex in southeast Oklahoma City. Officers arrived at the scene near Southeast 46th Street and Sunnylane Road to find 16-year-old Jashaun Cheatom suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to OU Health, where he succumbed to his injuries. Cheatom was a junior at Del City High School and a member of the school’s football team. His coach described him as a determined and hardworking athlete.

While the two shootings do not appear to be related, the Oklahoma City Police Department has yet to make any arrests. “This is certainly one where we need the public’s help,” said Master Sgt. Gary Knight, emphasizing the need for witnesses to come forward.

Douglass High School has offered crisis counseling to students and staff as they process Haywood’s death. Del City High School is also mourning Cheatom’s loss, remembering him as a dedicated team player and a tenacious young man.
