Katherine Campbell Obituary, Death – Authorities have released details about a tragic accident in Tamarac that claimed the life of a young woman. Katherine Campbell, 23, was struck and killed by an SUV shortly after exiting a bus on Monday afternoon near the intersection of West McNab Road and University Drive.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO), Campbell had just stepped off a Broward County Transit bus when the incident occurred. She was crossing West McNab Road, jogging in front of a GMC Arcadia, when she was struck by the vehicle’s front passenger side. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Emergency responders from Tamarac Fire Rescue arrived quickly and transported Campbell to Broward Health Medical Center. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Officials investigating the accident noted that Campbell was crossing outside a designated pedestrian crosswalk at the time of the collision. The eastbound traffic on the road had a green light, and neither excessive speed nor driver impairment appeared to contribute to the incident.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
