Karwan Breem, Karolin Breem Obituary, Death – Two students from Lincoln Public Schools lost their lives in a car crash on Monday, according to Lincoln police. The fatal accident happened around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Antelope Valley Parkway and Virginia Street. Authorities say the crash involved a red 2014 Cadillac ATS and a blue 2017 Nissan Frontier.
Investigators reported that the Cadillac, driven by 18-year-old Karwan Breem, was heading north on Antelope Valley Parkway when he suddenly changed lanes and accelerated rapidly to pass two vehicles. Due to the wet road conditions, the car hydroplaned, veered onto the curb, and then spun out of control, crossing into oncoming southbound traffic.
As a result, the Cadillac collided with the Nissan Frontier, which was being driven by a 19-year-old man from Oklahoma. He sustained injuries in the crash but was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening conditions.
Karwan Breem and his 15-year-old sister, Karolin Breem, were both in the Cadillac at the time of the crash. They were transported to a local hospital but sadly died from their injuries, police said. Lincoln Public Schools later confirmed that both siblings were enrolled as students within the district.
Although police initially withheld the names, authorities later confirmed the identities of the victims. Officials extended their condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with all the families impacted by this tragedy.”
The crash has left the school community and local residents mourning the sudden and devastating loss of two young lives. School officials are expected to provide support and resources to students and staff affected by the tragedy.
The Lincoln Police Department continues to investigate the crash, including the exact cause and contributing factors such as road conditions and speed. More information may be released as the investigation progresses.
