Jovana Morales Obituary, Death – Marshall County authorities have identified one of the teens killed in a tragic car accident in Albertville last week. Coroner Cody Nugent confirmed on Monday that 15-year-old Jovana Morales was among the two young victims of the crash. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Wednesday near the intersection of Arley Lacey Road and Blessing Road.
The second victim, a 13-year-old, has not yet been publicly identified. Both teens were passengers in a car driven by 18-year-old Yeismin Ramirez, also of Albertville. Authorities stated that Ramirez lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the roadway, striking a tree stump, a signpost, and eventually a fence. Alcohol was reportedly a factor in the crash.
Ramirez was arrested the day after the accident and is currently facing two counts of first-degree assault and one count of vehicular manslaughter. She remains in custody at the Marshall County Jail.
Jovana Morales, whose funeral service took place on Monday, was laid to rest at Memorial Hill Cemetery. An online fundraiser has been created to assist her family with expenses. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
