Joseph Roon Obituary, Death News – Joseph Roon, a 30-year-old man from Lake Villa, has been identified as the victim of a fatal head-on crash that occurred Monday morning in Grayslake. Preliminary autopsy findings indicate that Roon died from blunt-force injuries sustained in the collision, which took place around 8:30 a.m. near 115 S. Route 83, as confirmed by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
First responders arrived at the scene to find two of the three vehicles involved severely damaged. Due to the gravity of the situation, the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) of Lake County was called in to support the investigation.
Initial investigations suggest that Roon, driving a white 2017 Chevrolet Malibu, was heading southbound on Route 83 along with a blue 2020 Toyota Corolla. A black 2019 Lexus UX was traveling in the opposite direction, northbound on the same route. It is believed that Roon’s Malibu rear-ended the Corolla before crossing into the northbound lane, where it collided head-on with the Lexus.
Roon was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival in the emergency room.
Grayslake police, along with MCAT, are continuing to investigate the incident to determine the exact cause and contributing factors of the crash.
