Around 8:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to reports of gunfire on the freeway near the Garey Avenue off-ramp, according to Officer Sergio Garcia, who spoke to City News Service. Upon arrival, officers found Fierro suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, possibly the neck. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, he did not survive.
