Joseph Fierro Obituary, Death Cause – Authorities have released the identity of a man who was fatally shot on the eastbound side of the Pomona (60) Freeway in Pomona. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the victim as 59-year-old Joseph Fierro. He was taken to a hospital after being shot but later succumbed to his injuries.

The shooting incident occurred on the evening of July 21. Around 8:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to reports of gunfire on the freeway near the Garey Avenue off-ramp, according to Officer Sergio Garcia, who spoke to City News Service. Upon arrival, officers found Fierro suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, possibly the neck. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, he did not survive.

Investigators detained one individual in connection with the shooting. However, at this time, that person has not been formally charged with any crime. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including a possible motive or whether the act was targeted or random, have not yet been made public. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
