According to the Lakewood Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday at the Winddrift Apartments, located at 1490 South Reed Street.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered a man lying in the parking lot who had died from gunshot wounds. Two other victims—a man and a woman—were also found with gunshot injuries. Both surviving victims were quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and have since been released.
The deceased victim has been identified as 36-year-old Jose Camacho. Details regarding the events that led to the shooting have not yet been released by authorities, but the investigation quickly led to two suspects.
On Thursday evening, police arrested 43-year-old Moises Elauterio Garcia in connection with the deadly incident. The following day, 21-year-old Xavier Gabriel Brionez was also taken into custody. Both men were booked into the Jefferson County Detention Center and are facing charges of first-degree murder.
Authorities have not disclosed the relationship between the suspects and the victims or whether the shooting was targeted or random. The motive behind the violence remains unclear as the investigation continues.
