Jorge Garcia Obituary, Death – A pedestrian fatally struck on a freeway near Monterey Park has been identified by authorities. On Friday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the victim’s identity as 16-year-old Jorge Garcia. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The incident took place early Thursday morning at 1:31 a.m., when the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to reports of a collision on the connector road that links the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway to the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway. Upon arrival, officers discovered the pedestrian, later identified as Garcia, who had been struck by a vehicle. CHP Officer Sergio Garcia provided this information to City News Service.
In response to the crash, the CHP issued a SigAlert, which involved the closure of three lanes on the connector road from the westbound 10 Freeway to the southbound 710 Freeway. This closure lasted for two hours while investigators worked to determine the cause of the accident.
