Jonatan Perez Obituary, Death – The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has identified the bicyclist who was killed in a collision early Sunday morning in the Vermont Square area of Los Angeles.

The victim has been named as 29-year-old Jonatan Perez. His place of residence was not released by officials.

The fatal crash took place around 12:50 a.m. at the intersection of Vernon Avenue and Figueroa Street, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department. At the time of the incident, Perez was riding his bicycle eastbound on Vernon Avenue. Meanwhile, a vehicle traveling southbound on Figueroa Street collided with him at the intersection.

Emergency responders arrived quickly but pronounced Perez dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a man believed to be in his early 30s, was critically injured in the crash. He was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been updated.

In addition to striking Perez, the vehicle also crashed into two parked cars at the scene, according to a news videographer who was present.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. It is not yet clear whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the collision. Officials have not stated whether any charges are being considered.
