John G. Powell Obituary, Death – Springdale police have identified the man killed in a pedestrian accident that occurred on January 2. The victim, 56-year-old John G. Powell, was struck by a vehicle around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Don Tyson Parkway and Cambridge Street, according to a news release from the Springdale Police Department (SPD).
Investigators have stated that Powell, who was wearing dark clothing, stepped into the eastbound lane of traffic on Don Tyson Parkway and was hit by the vehicle. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save him, Powell later died from his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the authorities during the investigation. According to SPD, the driver is not expected to face charges in connection with the incident.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Springdale Police Department expressed condolences to Powell’s family and friends. “Our condolences go out to Mr. Powell’s family and friends,” the spokesperson said.
