John E. Stone Cause Of Death: Coroner IDs bicyclist killed by car in Upper Gwynedd, confirms cause of death

John E. Stone Cause Of Death – The Montgomery County Coroner has released the identity and cause of death of a bicyclist who was fatally struck by a car earlier this month in Upper Gwynedd Township. The victim has been identified as 55-year-old John E. Stone, a resident of Upper Gwynedd. According to the coroner’s report, Stone died from a ligamentous separation of the spinal column from the base of the skull—a fatal injury often referred to as internal decapitation. Authorities confirmed that Stone died instantly as a result of the impact.

The incident occurred on June 12 at approximately 5:57 p.m. at the intersection of Allentown Road and Green Street. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of a collision involving a bicycle and a 2019 Honda Accord.

According to the Upper Gwynedd Police Department, both the Honda and Stone were traveling in the same direction on Allentown Road, heading from Valley Forge Road toward Broad Street. As Stone attempted to make a left turn from the shoulder of the road toward Green Street, he moved into the path of the oncoming Honda and was struck on the front driver’s side of the vehicle.

First responders, including local police and emergency medical personnel from VMSC EMS, arrived quickly. Prior to their arrival, bystanders at the scene attempted to resuscitate Stone by performing CPR. Despite their efforts and those of emergency responders, Stone was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the crash, Allentown Road was closed for several hours to allow for a detailed investigation and cleanup. The road remained shut down until approximately 10:12 p.m.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the case to determine whether any charges will be filed against the driver of the vehicle. At this time, the driver’s name has not been released. The decision on potential charges will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation and any contributing factors that may be uncovered.

Upper Gwynedd Police were supported at the scene by Montgomery County detectives, VMSC EMS, and members of the North Penn Area Crash Team. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have requested that any witnesses who may have seen the collision or have video footage come forward with information.

As the investigation remains active, officials are working to fully understand the circumstances that led to the fatal crash. The community continues to mourn the tragic loss of John E. Stone, who was known locally and whose sudden death has left a significant impact on those who knew him.
