Jeffrey T. Galbreath Obituary, Death: 39-year-old man dies in Tuesday morning crash on I-135 in Wichita

Jeffrey T. Galbreath Obituary, Death – A fatal two-vehicle crash on Interstate 135 in Wichita early Tuesday morning claimed the life of a 39-year-old man, according to authorities.

The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) reported that the crash occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. on the northbound side of I-135 near the exit ramp to North Hydraulic Avenue.

Investigators said a 2006 Pontiac Torrent SUV, driven by Jeffrey T. Galbreath of Wichita, was heading north and exiting toward Hydraulic Avenue when it rear-ended a 2014 Hyundai Elantra. The impact caused Galbreath’s vehicle to veer back onto the highway, where it crossed multiple lanes before colliding with the inside barrier wall. The SUV then rebounded, moving across traffic again before striking an outer barrier wall in a construction zone. It ultimately came to a stop on its wheels, facing north on the roadway.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 29-year-old Pamela V. Jean Reyes of Wichita, managed to move her vehicle to the shoulder after the collision. Authorities confirmed she was not injured in the incident.

Emergency responders pronounced Galbreath dead at the scene. KHP noted that both drivers had been wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and each was the sole occupant of their respective vehicles.

The incident remains under investigation as officials work to determine the factors leading up to the collision.
