According to a press release issued on December 17, police were called to Cordova Street around 3:19 p.m. on December 16 to investigate reports of gunshots. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found two individuals in the main living area of an apartment. One of the victims was immediately given CPR, but despite efforts to revive him, he was declared dead at the scene. The second victim was also pronounced dead shortly after.
In response to the incident, detectives and forensic technicians were dispatched to the location to begin their investigation. They are collaborating with the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the exact circumstances that led to the deaths.
