Javaughn Raheen Hackney Obituary, Death – A fatal crash occurred early Thursday morning on Mercer University Drive near Grosso Avenue, resulting in the death of one man and injuries to three others, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision happened at approximately 5:09 a.m. on March 20, when a Dodge Durango and a Hyundai Elantra crashed head-on east of Edwards Avenue. Authorities reported that the Dodge Durango was being driven by a 51-year-old man, while the Hyundai Elantra was operated by 37-year-old Javaughn Raheen Hackney. Hackney had two passengers in his vehicle: a 29-year-old woman and a 9-year-old boy.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported all three individuals from the Hyundai Elantra to Atrium Navicent Health for medical treatment. Tragically, Hackney was pronounced dead at the hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash. Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley confirmed that Hackney’s next of kin had been notified of his passing.
The two passengers, along with the driver of the Dodge Durango, were reported to be in critical but stable condition.
