The tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon, around 2:15 p.m., when officers responded to reports of a man allegedly pointing a gun at another individual in the vicinity of Camino Al Norte and Lone Mountain Road. Upon arriving at the scene, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. However, the man ignored their commands and fled, prompting a pursuit.

Officer Roscow located the man shortly thereafter, ordering him to show his hands. The suspect ignored these commands, and in what police have described as a violent confrontation, the two exchanged gunfire. During this exchange, Officer Roscow was struck by multiple bullets. Both Roscow and the suspect were transported to University Medical Center, where they were later pronounced dead.
