Jason Copper Obituary, Death – A tragic accident involving a Medford fire truck claimed the life of a Sound Beach man and left three firefighters injured. Authorities have identified the victim as 39-year-old Jason Copper.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of the Long Island Expressway South Service Road and Route 112. Officials report that the fire truck, driven by Wilfredo Garcia, had its emergency lights and sirens activated at the time of the collision. Two additional firefighters were also inside the vehicle.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, where Copper was transported to the hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. The three firefighters sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical attention.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the cause of the crash, and an investigation remains ongoing.
