Jared Quincey Nelson Obituary, Death: Deadly Crash Reported in Iredell County

Jared Quincey Nelson Obituary, Death – A fatal crash occurred in Iredell County on the morning of April 9, resulting in the death of 27-year-old Jared Quincey Nelson from Elkin. The incident took place around 6:35 a.m. on I-77 South near the I-40 interchange (exit 52).

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the collision began when Nelson, driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse southbound on I-77, failed to reduce his speed. As a result, the Mitsubishi collided with a 2011 Volvo semi-truck that was also traveling south, but without a trailer attached. The impact caused the Volvo to strike a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was also traveling in the same direction.

Nelson, the driver of the Mitsubishi, was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries. The Volvo driver, 48-year-old Dennis Scott Bolding from Statesville, sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe was unharmed.

Initial investigations suggest that excessive speed was a contributing factor to the crash. In response to the accident, authorities closed the roadway in the area for about three hours while they conducted their investigation. Despite the tragic outcome, no charges are expected to be filed in connection with the incident.
