Jamar Douglas Obituary, Death; Louisville man fatally shot in Owen County; suspect arrested

Jamar Douglas Obituary, Death – Kentucky State Police have confirmed that a 26-year-old Louisville man, Jamar Douglas, died after being shot early Saturday in Owen County.

Authorities said troopers responded to reports of gunfire in Monterey around 2 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Douglas suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the University of Kentucky Hospital with life-threatening injuries but succumbed to them just after 1 a.m. on Sunday.

Investigators allege that 52-year-old Gary Bullion, of Ghent, Kentucky, was responsible for the shooting. Bullion was taken into custody shortly after the incident. Initially charged with several offenses, his charges were upgraded to include murder following Douglas’s death.

According to police, Bullion is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center. In addition to murder, he faces charges for possession of a controlled substance, marijuana possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The investigation has not yet revealed the motive behind the shooting or the events that led to the deadly confrontation. Police have also not disclosed whether the two men knew each other prior to the incident.

This case adds to a string of recent violent crimes reported in Kentucky. In other incidents, a \$250,000 bond was set for a suspect in a Dixie Highway double shooting that left one man dead, a Louisville man was hospitalized after a shooting in Pleasure Ridge Park, and a judge set a \$50,000 bond for a man accused of setting a fire at a local high school. Additionally, a 15-year-old now faces 34 charges connected to a shooting near a bus stop on the first day of school for Jefferson County Public Schools.

For now, Douglas’s death remains under investigation as authorities continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to piece together exactly what happened in the early morning hours in Monterey.
