Jaime Hernandez Obituary, Death – A 50-year-old man died following a single-vehicle crash in West Feliciana Parish on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to the scene of the crash shortly after 3:30 p.m. on LA 965, east of US 61.
The victim was identified as Jaime Hernandez, 50, of Zachary. According to the preliminary investigation, Hernandez was driving a 2014 Jeep Wrangler eastbound on LA 965 when, for reasons still under investigation, a tree fell onto the vehicle. The impact of the falling tree caused Hernandez to lose control of the vehicle, which then veered off the roadway to the left and collided with several other trees.
Hernandez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and sustained serious injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash is still being looked into, with law enforcement considering factors such as the weather conditions at the time. Impairment has not been determined, but a toxicology sample was taken and will be analyzed.
The crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police, who are working to determine if any other factors, such as inclement weather, contributed to the accident.
