Jahzaria Lewis Obituary, Death: Police identify young woman, 19, found dead in Midtown.

Jahzaria Lewis Obituary, Death – Memphis police have identified the body of a woman found last week in Midtown as 19-year-old Jahzaria Lewis. Authorities are treating the case as a homicide and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
Officers responded to a call about a suspicious person around 8 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, at 1021 Melrose Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Lewis’s body near a damaged fence close to a business at the intersection of Melrose Street and Southern Avenue. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are working to determine if the damage to the fence is connected to Lewis’s death. However, they have not yet released details about how she died. No suspects have been identified or taken into custody as of now.
A Midtown resident, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke about the violence in the area. He expressed sorrow but said he was not surprised. “Crime’s everywhere, and it ain’t the weak picking on the weak. It ain’t the poor picking on the poor,” he told WREG. “It happens every day. It doesn’t matter what time of day it is. They do it in the dark; they do it in broad daylight. They don’t care.”
Memphis police have urged anyone with information about Lewis’s death to come forward as their investigation remains ongoing.
