CLARKSTON, Cache County: Deputies report 2 dead in Cache County single-car crash.

CLARKSTON, Cache County — Two individuals lost their lives in a single-vehicle accident near the Utah-Idaho border early Tuesday morning, according to the Cache County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched to the scene around 6 a.m. following a report of a crash near the North Valley Landfill, located at 14200 Stink Creek Road in Clarkston. When they arrived, deputies discovered a severely damaged vehicle and found a man and a woman who had been ejected during the crash. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Cache County Lt. Mikelshan Bartschi stated that investigators found multiple open containers of alcohol inside and around the vehicle. Authorities believe that several contributing factors played a role in the crash, including alcohol consumption, speeding, and a failure to wear seat belts. These factors may have led to the loss of control of the vehicle, resulting in the victims being thrown out and sustaining fatal injuries.

The identities of the deceased have not been released publicly, as authorities are still working to notify their next of kin.

Bartschi expressed sympathy on behalf of the department, offering condolences to the families affected by the crash. He also used the tragic event as an opportunity to urge the public to make safer driving choices.

“Our sincerest condolences go out to the families of those involved in this tragic incident,” Bartschi said in a statement. “We want to remind everyone in our community to drive safely, wear your seat belt and never drink and drive. A moment of poor judgment can have devastating and irreversible consequences. Please help us keep our roads safe for everyone.”

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing. Authorities are continuing to gather information and evidence to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal crash.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that this tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with impaired driving and the importance of basic road safety measures, such as wearing seat belts. Officials encouraged drivers to avoid risky behaviors and to look out for the safety of others on the road.

As of now, no further details have been released about the victims or the circumstances leading up to the crash. Updates will be provided as investigators learn more.
