Jacob Wolterbeek Obituary, Death – Maine State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Thursday morning on the Piscataqua River Bridge, which connects Maine and New Hampshire on Interstate 95.
The accident took place at 1:14 a.m. when police responded to a two-vehicle collision on the southbound side of the high-rise bridge. According to the initial investigation, traffic had come to a halt on the bridge due to a crash on the New Hampshire side. A box truck was stationary in the southbound lane on the Maine side of the bridge when a Toyota Camry, driven by 41-year-old Jacob Wolterbeek of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, collided with the rear of the truck.
Wolterbeek was pronounced dead at the scene due to the impact. Authorities closed the southbound lanes of I-95 for several hours while they investigated the crash, but the lanes have since been reopened.
The crash remains under investigation by the Maine State Police.
