Ignacio Javier Banderas Hernandez Obituary, Death – The recent deadly crash in Bakersfield, which resulted from a high-speed collision between a civilian car and a Bakersfield Police Department vehicle, has led officials to identify the driver involved. Ignacio Javier Banderas Hernandez, a 29-year-old from Wasco, was found to be driving the vehicle that failed to stop at a sign and collided with a police car at the intersection of Kern and Niles streets. The coroner’s office confirmed that Hernandez was ejected from the car upon impact and died at the scene.
A passenger in Hernandez’s vehicle, 26-year-old Krystal Rubi Reynaga, also from Wasco, was killed in the crash. According to police, neither Hernandez nor Reynaga was wearing a seatbelt at the time. Additionally, a 2-year-old boy who was in the vehicle sustained serious injuries. Police reported that he was not secured in a car seat or restrained, adding to the tragedy of the incident.
The Bakersfield police officers involved sustained minor injuries and were reportedly not at fault. The crash occurred early in the morning on October 13, at approximately 5:40 a.m. The police vehicle, heading west on Niles Street, did not have a stop sign, while Hernandez’s car was traveling north on Kern Street when it ran the stop sign and collided with the police car.
