Gregory Lynn Harris Obituary, Death News – The Tucson Police Department has identified the man who died following a pedestrian-involved crash on the evening of Wednesday, July 30. The victim was 59-year-old Gregory Lynn Harris, who was fatally injured after being hit by a car while attempting to cross the street.

According to authorities, the collision occurred around 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of North First Avenue and Fort Lowell Road. Police officers responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a passenger vehicle at the location. When emergency responders arrived, Harris was found with critical injuries. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the car involved in the incident stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities during the investigation. Traffic detectives, along with members of the Crime Scene Unit, began a detailed review of the events leading up to the crash.

Preliminary findings from the Tucson Police Department revealed that Harris was crossing North First Avenue on foot but was not in a designated crosswalk when the collision took place. The vehicle that struck him was heading northbound at the time.

Investigators have determined that excessive speed was not a contributing factor in the crash, nor was driver impairment. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have indicated that additional information will be made available as it is confirmed.

This incident underscores the importance of pedestrian safety and awareness when crossing roadways, particularly in areas where crosswalks are present. As the Tucson Police Department continues its investigation, they encourage all pedestrians and drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic laws to prevent further tragedies.
