Gilberto Villarreal Obituary, Death News – A 73-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a vehicle while crossing Weber Road on Saturday night. Authorities identified the victim as Gilberto Villarreal.
Corpus Christi Police Department officers responded to the 5700 block of Weber Road at approximately 8:36 p.m. Upon arrival, they found bystanders attempting CPR on Villarreal. Officers took over lifesaving efforts until paramedics from the Corpus Christi Fire Department arrived to provide medical assistance.
According to investigators from the Traffic Unit, Villarreal was walking west across Weber Road when a northbound vehicle in the right lane struck him. The collision occurred in an area without a designated crosswalk.
Emergency responders transported Villarreal to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Officials from the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office have since notified his family.
The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police confirmed that the driver showed no signs of intoxication.
The case remains under investigation as officials review the circumstances surrounding the crash.
