George Urich Death, Obituary News – An 83-year-old man who lost his life in a house fire in Island Park has been identified as George Urich, Nassau police confirmed on Friday.

The fire broke out in a home on Sunset Avenue during the early hours of Monday, quickly engulfing the residence in flames. Firefighters from the Island Park Fire Department, Long Beach Fire Department, and other surrounding departments responded to the scene to battle the blaze.

After the fire was brought under control, authorities recovered Urich’s body from the home. His remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for official identification.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation as officials work to determine what led to the deadly incident.
