Filamer Barayuga Simpliciano Obituary, Death – In a tragic accident in October, the Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified one of the three people who lost their lives in a two-vehicle crash on Elmo Highway. The victim, 62-year-old Filamer Barayuga Simpliciano from Delano, was one of the passengers in the fatal collision.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash took place on October 14, 2024, at approximately 4:26 p.m. CHP officers responded to the scene at the intersection of Scofield Avenue and Elmo Highway. Their preliminary investigation revealed that a 36-year-old man from Porterville was driving a gray 2016 Ram 3500 east on Elmo Highway toward a stop sign at Scofield Avenue. Meanwhile, a silver 1993 Toyota Camry was traveling north on Scofield Avenue, approaching the intersection where northbound and southbound traffic were not controlled by stop signs.
The collision led to the immediate deaths of the driver and two passengers in the Toyota. The Ram’s driver suffered minor to moderate injuries and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment.
