Felipe Millan-Gomez Obituary, Death: Michigan man shot, killed by Arkansas State Police during traffic stop after pulling weapon.

Felipe Millan-Gomez Obituary, Death – Arkansas State Police have identified the man fatally shot by troopers during a traffic stop near Carlisle on Wednesday as 33-year-old Felipe Millan-Gomez.
Millan-Gomez, originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, was being sought by authorities in Manistee County, Michigan, for his alleged involvement in a violent carjacking and kidnapping that occurred on Monday, June 9. According to police reports, he was considered armed and dangerous at the time of the encounter with law enforcement.
During the carjacking incident, authorities say Millan-Gomez threatened a woman at gunpoint, forced her to drive, and eventually took control of her vehicle. Based on the nature of the alleged crime, law enforcement agencies across state lines were on alert for his whereabouts.
On Wednesday, June 11, Arkansas State Police located and stopped Millan-Gomez while he was traveling along Interstate 40. The traffic stop took place near the 18-mile marker outside of Carlisle at approximately 1:30 p.m.
According to state police, once Millan-Gomez exited his vehicle, he brandished a firearm. In response, state troopers opened fire, fatally shooting him at the scene. Authorities have not reported any injuries to the officers involved.
Following the shooting, Millan-Gomez’s body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab, where an autopsy will be performed.
The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is currently handling the investigation into the use of deadly force. Once their investigation is complete, the case will be reviewed by the Lonoke County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. That office will evaluate whether the troopers’ actions were lawful and in line with Arkansas’ legal standards for the use of lethal force.
No additional details about the incident, such as the exact sequence of events or how long police had been tracking Millan-Gomez, have been released at this time. Authorities have not indicated whether any other individuals were in the vehicle with him or if additional charges will be filed in relation to the original Michigan case.
The fatal encounter marks the end of a multi-state search for Millan-Gomez, whose actions earlier in the week triggered a serious public safety concern. Law enforcement had issued warnings due to the nature of the charges he was facing, particularly because he was believed to be armed.
This case will now go through a formal review process to determine whether the use of deadly force complied with legal protocols. Meanwhile, authorities in Michigan may continue their investigation into the original armed carjacking and kidnapping case, now that the primary suspect is deceased.
More information may become available as the investigation progresses and findings are released by the Arkansas State Police and the prosecuting attorney’s office.
