Why? And I think that’s probably one of the more difficult things that they are trying to grasp, to understand how this came to be and to be able to be more definitive and to understand what the sequence of events was like inside that house,” Agati said.

The incident occurred in a residential neighborhood in Madbury, which is located about two miles north of the University of New Hampshire in Durham and approximately 15 miles west of Portsmouth. When news crews arrived around 9:45 p.m., the scene had not yet been cordoned off with crime tape, though several officers were observed entering and exiting the home. At least six police cruisers were present in the area.

Investigators noted that two 911 calls had been placed prior to their arrival. The callers were familiar with the family, although authorities did not elaborate on the nature of their relationship. Police made entry into the home upon arrival and confirmed the tragic scene.

Autopsies for the four victims are scheduled for Wednesday, according to the Attorney General’s Office. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths, attempting to reconstruct the timeline of events and determine what led to the fatal incident.
