Elizabeth Villalobos Obituary, Death – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the identity of the woman who died in a shooting earlier this week at a downtown San Antonio apartment complex. She was identified as 28-year-old Elizabeth Villalobos. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.
While the Medical Examiner has not determined the exact circumstances that led to the incident, a San Antonio police sergeant at the scene told KSAT on Thursday morning that the shooting appeared to have been “accidental.” Authorities are still working to confirm that assessment.
According to police, officers were called to the Encore SoFlo Apartments, located in the 300 block of South Flores Street near East César E. Chávez Boulevard, shortly after 4:30 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they discovered Villalobos had sustained a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Investigators learned that Villalobos and a man, believed to be her romantic partner, were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting. Police reported that multiple firearms were laid out on a table in the apartment. At some point, one of the guns discharged, striking Villalobos.
The man was taken into custody for questioning, and officers seized several guns from the apartment as part of their investigation. Detectives and evidence technicians remained at the scene for several hours Thursday morning, carefully processing the ground-floor unit for forensic evidence.
