Eglin Manuel Castro Alvarez 0bituary, Death – A 27-year-old man from Midlothian, Eglin Manuel Castro Alvarez, lost his life in a two-vehicle collision early Tuesday morning in Oak Lawn, according to police reports. The fatal crash occurred around 3 a.m. at the intersection of Southwest Highway and Cicero Avenue.
Police stated that one vehicle, heading southwest on Southwest Highway, collided with another vehicle traveling south on Cicero Avenue. The force of the impact caused the striking vehicle to come to a stop at the southwest corner of the intersection after hitting the other vehicle. The second vehicle was pushed into a vacant storefront before coming to rest against an unused oil change business located in the 4900 block of West Southwest Highway.
Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene. Oak Lawn paramedics transported the occupants of both vehicles to Advocate Christ Medical Center. Despite medical efforts, Castro Alvarez was pronounced dead at 6:15 a.m.
Oak Lawn police have not disclosed who was driving the vehicle that initiated the collision. The investigation remains active, and further details will be released as they become available.
