Authorities say the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, just after 2:30 p.m., when Anderson County 911 received a report of a collision on Due West Highway near Trail Road. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and found that a sedan had crossed over the center line of the highway and collided with a large enclosed trailer being towed by a truck.
The driver of the sedan, who was critically injured in the crash, received medical treatment at the scene before being airlifted to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. Despite medical efforts, the man passed away the following day, Thursday, at 4:45 p.m.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 30-year-old Dustin McConnell.
