Destiny Simon Obituary, Death – Two people lost their lives and another was injured in a serious car accident on Saturday night along Air Expressway in Adelanto, located in San Bernardino County, officials confirmed on Sunday morning.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the crash involved two vehicles and was reported at approximately 8:47 p.m. to the Victorville Police Station. Emergency responders, including sheriff’s deputies, fire personnel, and paramedics, rushed to the scene near Ranch Road.
Upon arrival, first responders found two heavily damaged vehicles — a gold Mercedes CLK320 and a silver Honda Accord — blocking the westbound lanes of the expressway. There were three people involved in the crash.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Honda Accord, an adult male whose name has not yet been released, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, 18-year-old Destiny Simon, a passenger in the Mercedes, was also pronounced dead due to the extent of her injuries.
Simon was identified as a resident of San Bernardino. The driver of the Mercedes, 19-year-old Jalen Kendall from Helendale, survived the crash and was transported by ambulance to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. Officials have not disclosed the nature or severity of Kendall’s injuries at this time.
The Sheriff’s Department noted that information about what led to the collision is still limited. The cause of the accident is under active investigation.
As a result of the crash, a section of Air Expressway between Gas Line Road and North D Street had to be closed for several hours overnight while authorities conducted an on-scene investigation and cleared the wreckage.
Law enforcement is requesting help from the public. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional information is encouraged to contact Deputy C. Stanley or Deputy J. Stroik at the Victorville Police Station.
So far, no further updates have been given on whether speeding, distracted driving, or impairment were factors in the collision. The identities of the deceased Honda driver and the condition of the surviving Mercedes driver may be released as the investigation progresses.
