Derrick Davis Obituary, Death – A tragic pedestrian accident near Fox Valley Mall in Aurora claimed the life of a Naperville man on Tuesday morning. Authorities have identified the victim as 54-year-old Derrick Davis, who was attempting to cross Route 59 when he was struck by a vehicle.
According to the Aurora Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. near one of the mall’s entrances. Davis was walking east across the busy roadway when a black 2018 Infiniti Q50, traveling north in the middle lane, approached. Despite the driver’s efforts to stop, the vehicle was unable to avoid striking Davis.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, and Davis was transported to Rush Copley Medical Center with critical injuries. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead about an hour after the crash.
The driver of the Infiniti remained at the scene following the collision and cooperated with authorities. As part of the investigation, the Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division responded to the location and conducted an accident reconstruction. The roadway remained closed for several hours while officers examined evidence and gathered information.
Officials have stated that the Kane County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The findings could contribute to a broader understanding of the factors involved in the accident.
