Andrew Biscay Obituary, Death – The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the man killed in an officer-involved shooting early Wednesday morning in Los Osos. The individual has been identified as 40-year-old Andrew Biscay, a resident of Chowchilla.

Authorities say the incident began when deputies responded to a call near the address of a reporting party. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found Biscay sitting inside a vehicle near the area in question. According to officials, as the deputies approached, Biscay got out of the car, assumed a shooting stance, and pointed what appeared to be a handgun directly at them.

Despite repeated commands from deputies to drop the weapon, Biscay reportedly continued to move toward them while still aiming the gun. In response, the deputies opened fire. Following the shooting, they approached Biscay and began administering medical aid, but he later died at the scene.

Investigators recovered a weapon from the area where Biscay was shot. It was later identified as a Beretta PX4 Storm semi-automatic pellet gun, which closely resembles a real Beretta PX4 Storm .40 caliber handgun. The Sheriff’s Office released photos comparing both weapons to highlight their visual similarities.

In addition to releasing photos of the weapon, the Sheriff’s Office also shared a still image taken from the in-car camera footage just before the shooting. The image shows Biscay pointing the pellet gun at deputies. Officials say the release of the image is part of their commitment to transparency during the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Detective Division is currently leading the investigation and has already retrieved and reviewed footage from the patrol vehicle’s camera system. They are continuing to analyze evidence and reconstruct the series of events that led to the fatal encounter.

Authorities confirmed that no deputies were harmed during the incident. They also stated that there are no other suspects involved and that the public is not at risk.

As per department policy, the deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing. Peer support services have been offered to those deputies during this time.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that this is still an active investigation and more information will be shared as it becomes available. They are urging the public to allow the process to continue as they work to determine all the facts surrounding the event.
