Corey Adams Obituary, Death – Corey Adams, a former football standout from Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, was tragically killed in a mass shooting in Tennessee, according to reports. The incident occurred on Saturday night, July 19, in Cordova, a suburb east of Memphis.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the shooting happened around 10:14 p.m. outside a home on Fern Glade Cove. Deputies responded to the scene and stopped a vehicle, where they found a male gunshot victim. Officers attempted life-saving measures until emergency responders from Shelby County Fire Department arrived. Sadly, the victim, later identified as 18-year-old Corey Adams, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In addition to Adams, four other adult men were wounded in the same shooting. According to authorities, these victims arrived separately at hospitals in private vehicles seeking treatment for their gunshot injuries. Fortunately, none of them suffered life-threatening wounds.
Adams, a highly regarded athlete, was preparing to begin his freshman season at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where he was set to play football. Known for his size and skill, Adams stood 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighed 235 pounds. He played the edge rusher position and had recently committed to Ole Miss after receiving scholarship offers from other major programs, including LSU, TCU, and USC.
