The shooting took place at the intersection of East Braker Lane and Dessau Road shortly after 2 a.m. on July 19. Officers responded to the area at around 2:07 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found a woman calling for help. She told police that she had been shot and that another person, her boyfriend, was dead at the scene.
Police discovered both individuals in a vehicle with gunshot wounds. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman, who has not been named, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency personnel transported her to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe the couple were sitting inside their vehicle when a white car pulled up next to them and opened fire. The shooter fired multiple rounds into the victims’ car before driving away. Police have not released details about the suspect or the motive behind the attack, and no arrests have been made as of yet.
