The crash occurred just after 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 74 West and U.S. 17 South. Authorities have indicated that the initial investigation shows the vehicle involved was traveling westbound on U.S. 74 when Atherholt suddenly entered the travel lane and was hit.
