Chrystofer A. Whyte Obituary, Death: Teen killed in Pier Village shooting was Woodbridge High student

Chrystofer A. Whyte Obituary, Death – An 18-year-old man who was shot and killed on the beach at Pier Village in Long Branch last Thursday night has been identified as Chrystofer A. Whyte of North Brunswick, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
The deadly shooting took place around 8:58 p.m. on Thursday, coinciding with the conclusion of Long Branch’s first “Thursdays By The Sea” summer concert. The area was packed with people enjoying the event, and chaos erupted when the sound of gunfire rang out. Eyewitnesses described a panicked scene as beachgoers and concert attendees began running and screaming in fear.
When Long Branch police officers and emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, they discovered Whyte lying on the sand with a single gunshot wound. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
As of Monday, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Authorities continue to investigate and are seeking the public’s help in identifying the shooter.
Though Chrystofer Whyte lived in North Brunswick, he had ties to Woodbridge, having attended Woodbridge High School. During his time there, he was active in athletics, participating in both football and wrestling, according to a report from News 12.
Officials are now urging anyone who was present during the incident or in the surrounding area to come forward with any information that might assist in the investigation. In particular, police are asking people who may have captured videos of the shooting on their phones or electronic devices to share the footage directly with investigators. Authorities noted that they are aware of videos circulating on local social media but emphasized that they are looking for original, firsthand video files from individuals who were at the scene.
To help with this, a special portal has been set up for people to upload any relevant videos: https://monmouthcountyponj.evidence.com.
In addition to video evidence, investigators are also seeking eyewitness accounts or any other information that could lead to an arrest. People who might have seen something or know more about the incident are encouraged to contact Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Thomas Manzo at 800-533-7443 or Long Branch Police Detective Joseph Spitale at 732-222-1000, extension 1339.
The investigation remains active as law enforcement continues to piece together what led to the tragic death of the young man on what was supposed to be a peaceful summer evening at the Jersey Shore.
