Christopher Johnson, Quentin Romero Obituary, Death: Authorities identify three killed in Green River Tunnel crash; 18 others injured.

Christopher Johnson, Quentin Romero Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the three victims who lost their lives in a devastating crash inside Wyoming’s Green River Tunnel on Friday, February 14.

According to a press release from the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) on February 18, the deceased were identified as Christopher Johnson, 20, and Quentin Romero, 22, both from Rawlins, Wyoming, along with Harmanjeet Singh, 30, of Nova Scotia, Canada. All three victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

WYDOT Director Darin Westby expressed condolences, saying, “Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to the community of Rawlins and to the families, friends, and loved ones of all three of these individuals.”

The crash, which resulted in a massive fire, left emergency crews scrambling to rescue survivors and contain the damage. Evidence collection at the crash site was completed on Monday, February 17, with officials confirming the third fatality the previous day.

In addition to the tragic loss of life, 18 other people sustained injuries in the crash. They were transported to a hospital in Sweetwater County for treatment, but officials have not released further details regarding the extent of their injuries.

As of Monday, the westbound tunnel remained closed due to safety concerns. The Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) has urged drivers to avoid the area, citing potential hazards.

“Between the debris that could still fall and serious concerns about the air quality in the tunnel, it’s too dangerous for anyone without proper protective equipment and training to be in the area,” said WHP Colonel Tim Cameron. “We do not want to add any more injuries as a result of this horrible event.”

Initial reports indicate that the multi-vehicle crash involved 26 vehicles—10 passenger vehicles and 16 commercial trucks. Among them, eight vehicles were completely destroyed in the ensuing fire.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash. Colonel Cameron emphasized the importance of patience as officials work to piece together an accurate account of the events leading up to the tragic incident.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we examine all the evidence and work toward developing a crash narrative and cause that is as accurate as possible,” he said.

The accident has left the local community in mourning, and officials are working diligently to ensure the safety of the area while investigating the circumstances surrounding the fiery crash.
