Christian Kaufman Obituary, Death – A Wichita man died in a motorcycle crash on the Kansas Turnpike Sunday evening, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike in Osage County, just south of the Shawnee County line. Authorities reported that 69-year-old Christian Kaufman was traveling southbound on a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle at the time of the crash.
According to troopers, Kaufman was riding in the right lane when, for reasons not yet determined, he veered off the roadway. In an apparent attempt to regain control, he overcorrected and swerved back onto the highway. However, the maneuver caused the motorcycle to tip over onto its side.
The bike then slid off the road, striking a post before entering a grassy ditch where it rolled several times. During the rollover, Kaufman was ejected from the motorcycle. The bike continued to roll before catching fire.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Kaufman dead. He was the only person involved in the crash, and no other vehicles were involved.
