Chitprasong Amphavannasouk Obituary, Death – Sioux Falls police have identified the victim of a deadly stabbing that occurred Friday morning and have charged a man in connection with the crime.

The victim, 45-year-old Chitprasong Amphavannasouk, was found unresponsive in a hallway of an apartment complex located in the 3500 block of South Larch Avenue around 4:30 a.m. on April 4. Officers from the Sioux Falls Police Department were called to the scene and attempted lifesaving measures, but despite their efforts, Amphavannasouk was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jordan Benedict Adams, 35, has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and aggravated assault in connection with the stabbing. The charges stem from an affidavit provided in support of his arrest, which outlines details about the crime and the subsequent investigation.

According to the affidavit, when officers arrived at the apartment complex, they discovered Amphavannasouk lying in the hallway, having sustained multiple stab wounds. Investigators soon made contact with Adams, who was located in an apartment within the same complex. When he opened the door, officers observed him covered in blood. Adams was reportedly seen repeatedly reaching for the front pocket of his black hoodie, which raised suspicion. A pocketknife was later found in his hoodie.

During his interaction with officers, Adams allegedly claimed that he had been cut, but insisted that he did not remember the events that led to the injury. He mentioned having been drinking earlier with friends in one of the apartments but did not recall what had happened afterward. Adams had a laceration on his lower calf, which he said was a result of being cut, but the details of the injury were unclear.

A witness at the scene provided officers with critical information. The witness stated that she had seen Adams and Amphavannasouk fighting earlier. According to the witness, she observed Amphavannasouk backing away from Adams with his hand raised when Adams then stabbed him and fled the scene. The witness was unable to identify Adams by name but was able to pick him out of a photo lineup afterward.

A second witness corroborated the first witness’s statement, confirming the details of the altercation. Officers’ investigation revealed that Amphavannasouk had been stabbed five times during the incident.

Adams was arrested and booked into the Minnehaha County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $1,000,025 bond. His initial hearing is scheduled for Monday afternoon.

The police department’s spokesperson, Sam Clemens, said that while much of the situation remains unclear, the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are still working to determine the precise circumstances that led to the altercation and subsequent stabbing.

The charges against Adams are serious, and his actions have resulted in the tragic death of Amphavannasouk. It remains to be seen how the investigation will unfold and whether additional charges will be filed. In the meantime, Adams faces significant legal consequences as he remains in custody.

The incident has raised concerns in the Sioux Falls community, prompting law enforcement to continue their search for further evidence and witnesses that might provide additional insights into the motivations behind the attack. It also highlights the potential dangers of alcohol consumption and violence in social settings, and the consequences of heated arguments escalating into deadly encounters.

The case has garnered significant attention, with members of the community hoping for justice for the victim and accountability for the suspect. As the investigation continues, law enforcement agencies will continue to piece together the details surrounding this tragic event.
