Chasie Aquino Carino Obituary, Death – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the woman who died in a suspected DUI-related crash in southwest Bakersfield. The victim was 23-year-old Chasie Aquino Carino, a resident of Delano. The Bakersfield Police Department reported that the collision occurred in the early hours of August 24, 2025, at approximately 1:20 a.m., near the intersection of Panama Lane and Stine Road.
According to police, officers responding to the crash found two vehicles with extensive damage located just west of the intersection. Carino was discovered lying in the roadway, suffering from severe injuries. Emergency responders immediately assessed her condition, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators determined that Carino had been a passenger in one of the vehicles and was ejected during the crash, which contributed to the fatality.
The initial investigation revealed that a westbound vehicle collided with a southbound vehicle at the intersection. The driver of the southbound vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the westbound vehicle also required medical attention but suffered only minor injuries. Police indicated that both speed and alcohol appear to have been contributing factors in the crash, which is currently under active investigation.
During the investigation, authorities encountered additional incidents at the crash scene. In one case, a man drove through a barricade made of traffic cones and police vehicles, entering the area of the crash. He was detained and found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and booked into Kern County Jail. Shortly afterward, a second vehicle also breached a barricade and traveled eastbound in the westbound lanes through the crash scene. The female driver of that vehicle was similarly detained, found to be DUI, and taken into custody, subsequently being booked into the Kern County Jail.
Police emphasized the hazards posed by such reckless behavior, noting that additional vehicles entering the crash scene not only risk further collisions but also complicate the work of emergency responders. Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the chain of events leading to the fatal collision and are reviewing evidence to determine the precise causes and contributing factors.
