Chad A. Ribando Obituary, Death – Authorities are investigating a fatal incident in St. Helena Parish where a man was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking along a highway early Wednesday morning. Louisiana State Police have identified the victim as 43-year-old Chad A. Ribando of Tickfaw.

According to investigators, the crash occurred around 4:40 a.m. on LA Highway 16. At the time of the incident, a 2017 Dodge Charger was traveling eastbound on the highway, while Ribando was walking in the same direction in the eastbound lane. For reasons still under investigation, the Dodge collided with Ribando, causing fatal injuries.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Ribando dead. Officials noted that he was wearing dark-colored clothing at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to limited visibility. The driver of the Dodge was properly restrained and did not sustain any injuries.

As part of standard investigative procedures, authorities collected toxicology samples from both Ribando and the driver. The results of these tests will help determine if any external factors, such as impairment, played a role in the accident.

The Louisiana State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. No charges have been announced as of now, and officials urge drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution, especially in low-visibility conditions.
