Cecil Batiz Obituary, Death: 16-Year-Old Armed Robbery Suspect Shot and Killed by Store Manager in New Orleans Identified
Cecil Batiz Obituary, Death – The Orleans Parish coroner has confirmed the identity of a teenager fatally shot during an armed robbery in New Orleans East on Tuesday night. The teen has been identified as 16-year-old Cecil Batiz.
Batiz, along with 18-year-old Teony Juarez, was shot by a store manager in the 8400 block of the Interstate 10 service road. According to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), the two individuals entered the store with firearms, intending to rob the business. However, the store manager, who was armed, shot both suspects during the attempted robbery.
Juarez was struck by a bullet and was arrested at the scene. He was later booked into the Orleans Parish Prison on charges of felony armed robbery and gun possession. His bond was set at $35,000.
Batiz was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. As of now, additional charges could be added as the investigation continues. The police have stated that the store manager has not been charged in connection with the shooting.
