Carlos Claros, Guillermo Serrano Obituary, Death: Medical Examiner IDs second victim in deadly North Side bar shooting

Authorities in Bexar County have identified the second man who died following a violent altercation that escalated into a fatal shooting outside a bar on San Antonio’s North Side. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that 31-year-old Carlos Claros died from gunshot wounds sustained during the incident. His death has officially been classified as a homicide.
This identification comes after officials had already named the first victim earlier in the week. That man, 45-year-old Guillermo Serrano Jr., also succumbed to gunshot wounds. Both men lost their lives following a confrontation that unfolded in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 8.
According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 5:30 a.m. outside LUNA Live Music Bar, located at 6740 San Pedro Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found one of the men deceased, believed to be in his 40s or 50s. Another man was found nearby suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency personnel transported him to a hospital, where he later died.
Although the identities of both victims have now been released, police have not yet clarified which of the men died at the scene and which died at the hospital.
Initial reports from officers at the scene indicated that a physical altercation had broken out in the bar’s parking lot involving a group of women. The situation escalated, eventually leading to gunfire. Early information suggested the possibility that the two deceased men may have shot one another during the chaos.
However, a preliminary SAPD report issued the following Monday seemed to cast doubt on that theory. According to that update, investigators believe the actual shooter fled the scene before law enforcement officers arrived. This has left some uncertainty surrounding who was responsible for the deadly violence and whether either of the two deceased individuals fired a weapon.
Authorities say the relationship between Claros and Serrano remains unclear, and it is not known if they knew each other prior to the incident. Additionally, police have not yet stated whether any of the individuals involved were patrons of LUNA Live Music Bar on the night of the incident.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) has also become involved in the investigation. A spokesperson for the agency confirmed that an inquiry into the circumstances of the shooting is underway. In addition, the bar is under a separate, ongoing investigation dating back to August 2024, related to allegations of allowing alcohol consumption during restricted hours.
At this time, no findings have been announced from either investigation, and authorities have not named any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues to piece together what led to the deadly incident outside the bar.
